Corporate Presentation summary
31 Aug, 2025Market drivers and supply chain context
Global demand for natural graphite is projected to exceed supply from 2026, with over 80% of 2030 demand driven by the battery sector.
China maintains dominance in graphite supply, but new export controls and US/EU tariffs are accelerating supply diversification.
Graphite is classified as a 'very high risk' material for defence, prompting Western governments to prioritize secure supply chains.
The EU and US have enacted legislation to ensure sustainable, regionalized supply of critical minerals, including graphite.
Vertically integrated business model
The operation spans upstream mining (Epanko), midstream mechanical shaping, and downstream HFfree® purification for battery anode materials.
The Epanko project in Tanzania is the largest development-ready graphite resource in Africa, with a 290.8 Mt resource and 14.3 Mt ore reserve at 8.8% TGC.
Mechanical shaping and purification facilities are designed for scalability and cost efficiency, with strategic locations near infrastructure.
The HFfree® process is patented, eco-friendly, and delivers high-purity graphite with minimal waste and low carbon emissions.
Project execution and financials
Epanko Stage 1 targets 73,000 tpa, with expansion plans to over 300,000 tpa; debt financing of up to US$105m is in progress.
The German government has given a positive preliminary review for UFK loan cover; environmental and social due diligence is complete.
The HFfree® purification facility in the US is forecast to operate at US$478/t, 34% lower than traditional HF methods, with a pre-tax NPV of US$282m and IRR of 39%.
European and Asian expansion is underway, with Germany as a key focus for new purification sites.
