Noosa Mining Investor Conference summary
17 Nov, 2025Industry context and market dynamics
Rare earths have become a highly strategic mineral class, especially since the Trump administration, due to their critical role in defense and technology.
Global rare earth prices have been volatile, with China manipulating prices and imposing export bans, impacting all producers.
The U.S. government has invested $500 million in domestic rare earth supply, setting a base price and bifurcating the market between China and the U.S.
Recent policy shifts, such as tariff relaxations and export bans, continue to drive price and supply uncertainty.
Project overview and technical advantages
The project is a large clay-hosted rare earth deposit formed inside a volcano, with extensive drilling confirming mineralization.
Mining targets only the clay layer, leveraging a process where nature has already liberated rare earths, enabling extraction without crushing, grinding, or strong acids.
The extraction process uses a mild solution (pH 5, similar to beer) and ammonium sulfate, making it environmentally benign.
The operation is close to completing a pilot plant and expects to produce mixed rare earth concentrate from December.
Financials, production, and growth plans
Market cap has grown from $10 million to $500 million in a few years, reflecting the project's strategic value.
Capital cost for the plant is $440 million, significantly lower than competitors, with the lowest operating costs globally.
The project can produce profitably even at low spot prices set by China, with U.S. base prices now much higher.
Off-take agreements are in progress, and environmental licensing is expected within weeks, positioning the project as the next rare earth mine to be built.
Plans include doubling production with a second project in the north after the initial phase.
